Hartwig Thyen geht in seinem Kommentar zum Johannesevangelium weniger auf die Genese des Evangeliums und seine mutmasslichen Quellen ein. Er interpretiert das vierte Evangelium vielmehr als hochpoetischen literarischen Text und untersucht das intertextuelle Spiel mit den drei synoptischen Vorgängern. L'ouvrage consiste en une lecture continue de l'Evangile de Jean depuis le prologue jusqu'au chapitre 13. L'originalité de cette lecture est de présenter l'ensemble de l'évangile comme une mise en récit du prologue qui l'inaugure : en Jésus Christ, le Verbe de Dieu "advint chair et dressa sa tente parmi nous" (Jn 1, 14). Cette perspective, sans négliger les apports de l'exégèse historico-critique, conduit l'auteur à adopter une approche narrative du texte, abordé au plus près de sa lettre et traduit aussi précisément que possible. Pour chaque section de l'ouvrage, des questions adressées au lecteur font ressortir les enjeux du texte ; elles l'aident à se l'approprier. Puis vient le commentaire qui met en évidence toutes les nuances du récit éclairées par de nombreuses notes. L'Evangile de Jean s'avère, à partir de cette lecture, théologiquement très élaboré. Rédigé dans des circonstances historiques données, l'Evangile de Jean présenté ici demeure éclairant pour qui le travaille dans le contexte actuel. L'auteur n'a pu achever sa lecture de tout l'Evangile. Au bout de ses forces, il s'est arrêté à l'épisode du lavement des pieds, réalisant ainsi, dans sa propre chair, cela même qu'il commentait : "Il les aima jusqu'à l'extrême".

In Family 13 in Saint John's Gospel, Jac Perrin innovatively applies phylogenetic software to shed new light on Family 13 membership. To date, the relocation of the Pericope Adulterae from its traditional location in John 7:53 has been the sole criterion of Family 13 filiality. This book demonstrates the inadequacy of this criterion, and proposes new criteria in its stead. 0Nineteen potential Family 13 witnesses are analyzed by means of a sampling process developed by David Parker, identifying eight witnesses inappropriately nominated as Family 13 members. This analysis is corroborated by a complete computer assisted collation of all variant readings in all known Family 13 witnesses. Lastly, the volume offers a comprehensive stemma representing the entire Johannine corpus of ten confirmed Family witnesses in constellation.
